Housecleaning Made Manageable for the College Student
Published on Tuesday, 11 January 2011
College can be a busy time, what with academics, organizations and other extra-curricular activities. Many college students even have to juggle their time between studies and work. As busy as undergraduate life can be, therefore, many students struggle with keeping their rooms neat and clean. After all, aren't there more important things to worry about? Well, that's true in many ways. But have you considered that keeping your room organized will enable you to function more efficiently? No more rummaging through piles of muddled mess for some tiny item you need for your report, research and the like. No more tripping over stuff when you're in a hurry. No strange smells. You can move in and out, and around your room with ease and know where everything is kept. So what are some basic tips to housekeeping for a college student? 1. Figure out what you have to do. Make a list that includes things like laundry, closet keeping, bathroom cleaning, and others. That way, you won't neglect anything that needs to be done. It might also help if you arrange them in order of their importance so that you can give more attention to the more important tasks. 2. Make a regular schedule. By chopping up your tasks and assigning them to different days, you can develop routines that will keep you from being overwhelmed by the sheer amount of housekeeping that you have to do, while making sure that it all gets done. For example, assign laundry to Mondays, floor-cleaning to Tuesdays, etc. 3. Be tidy as a habit. If you have any messy habits like leaving trash on the floor instead of in the trashcan, try to change them.
